A dental implant serves as the replacement for the root portion of a missing natural tooth.

When the nerve of a tooth has been adversely and irreparably affected by decay or infection, or if a tooth cracks or experiences chronic physical trauma we recommend that the nerve be permanently removed to ensure health and prevent chronic pain and infection. Gum disease treatment

We will assess your individual case and then recommend a course of treatment. In some cases, root planing (debridement) may be required. This is a deep clean under the gums that gets rid of bacteria from the roots of your teeth. Before having the treatment, you may need to have a local anaesthetic (painkilling medication) to numb the area.

Cosmetic/aesthetic dentistry (including smile design)

Cosmetic dentistry focuses on improving the appearance of your mouth, teeth and smile by making use of various advanced methods and materials in a guided way to improve aesthetics.

Cosmetic dentistry is generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance of your teeth (crowns, veneers, composite work), gums (crown lengthening, gum recontouring) and/or bite (braces).

Function is always taken into consideration, but attention is primarily given to the colour, shape, size and position of your teeth in relationship to your gum and overall smile appearance.

Reconstructive Dentistry

Full mouth Reconstructive dentistry

Full mouth reconstruction refers to the rebuilding or restoration all of the teeth in both the upper and lower jaws combining aesthetics with the science of restorative dentistry to improve the health, function, and beauty of the mouth.

By using a combination of advanced dental treatments (braces, gum treatment, restorations etc) the aim to address a variety of issues that may be having a negative impact on the health of your teeth and/or your ability to chew and speak properly.

The need for full mouth reconstruction may result from a combination of:

  • Teeth that have been lost due to decay or trauma
  • Teeth that have become severely worn as a result of long-term acid erosion (foods, beverages, acid reflux) or tooth grinding (bruxing).
  • Ongoing complaints of jaw, muscle and headache pain requiring adjustments to the bite (occlusion).

Surgery

Surgical tooth removals
A surgical extraction is a slightly more complex procedure that occurs when a tooth has not yet broken through the gum or are impacted (wisdom tooth) or when a tooth have broken in such a way that it cannot be extracted conventionally.
Surgical extractions can either be done in the dental chair, under sedation or under general anaesthesia.

Implants
A dental implant is a fixture (“screw”) that is placed in bone of the jaw acting as a surgically fixed substitute for roots of missing teeth to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge or a denture.
Dental implants are made of titanium alloy (similar to hip implants, shoulder implants, and knee implants), which is highly biocompatible.
It is an ideal way to replace missing teeth to restore function.

Fixed braces
Damon braces are self-ligating appliances that are fitted in the same way as traditional metal braces. But instead of having brackets that tighten and adjust the braces regularly, Damon braces use a slide mechanism that attaches wires to brackets to move naturally with the teeth as they realign. This makes them more comfortable, better looking and able to provide strong results in a shorter time.
For a more aesthetic appearance there is the option of clear brackets on the front teeth combined with metal brackets on the lower teeth.

Clear aligners
These clear appliances move teeth gently and gradually with multiple sets of thin, tight-fitting aligners, custom-designed and individually printed for each specific case. These aligners are comfortable to wear and aesthetically pleasing.
Clear aligners are for selected cases only and mainly used to correct mild to moderately misaligned teeth.

Myobrace
The Myobrace®System is a preventive pre-orthodontic treatment that focuses on addressing the underlying causes of crooked teeth in very young children which is often caused by poor oral and breathing habits.
Early signs include mouth breathing, incorrect swallowing (tongue not in the palate, a lot of facial movement while swallowing, lips not closed on swallowing), crooked teeth, narrow dental arches.
If these muscle deficiencies and incorrect habits are corrected early there is often not a needed for braces or extraction of teeth, unlocking natural growth and development.
Treatment is best suited to children aged 3 to 15 and involves using a series of removable intra-oral appliances that are worn for 1-2 hours each day plus overnight while sleeping
